Possum King

No creature is so graceful
As the mighty possum king
Though some find him distasteful
His call bears a noble ring

His nose up turned and haughty
He rummages through the garbage green
He finds some food that's rotty
And brings it to the possum queen

On stubs of legs like lightning
He hobbles cross the laneway flat
I heard a screech most frightening
He was run down by a drunken frat

Now all possums rise and sing
He was the mighty possum king
