I have rummaged through
My poem pile
Trying to find one
To make you smile

My feeble search
Was unsuccessful
All my poems
Were not restful

I love you more
Than a poem can express
But I'll do some work
I'll try my best

You are there
When I need you so
Your loving smile
Your eyes they glow

Your touch so soft
Your kiss so sweet
You stop at nothing
There is no feat

My endless words
Could not describe
The joy you bring
To my life

I think of you
All night and day
They bring me comfort
The words you say

So I search
through piles and piles
Of poems I've written
About your smiles

I was so gone
I turned you away
You wanted to help
You wanted to stay

I made you believe
I made you betray
You helped me to see
You helped me to say

I put you behind me
I again went astray
Your words, they confused me
Your words, they bring pain

I was so empty
I knew what to do
You showed me the way
You showed me the truth
